BWINTAF Executive Director Job Description
BWINTAF is seeking a highly motivated, uniquely qualified, and dynamic leader to serve as the Executive Director to provide leadership, direction, and support to the Board of Directors in developing organizational goals and attaining and allocating resources. The BWINTAF Executive Director sets the strategic direction, grows the BWINTAF network, and raises funds necessary to fulfill BWINTAF’s mission.
Leadership & Management:
Work with BWINTAF’s Board of Directors to shape and articulate BWINTAF’s strategic vision and overall direction.
Develop, maintain, and support a solid Senior Advisory Council: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build council involvement with strategic direction for ongoing and planned local, national, and international operations; retain a Council of no less than five senior members representing a range of industries to aid in the advancement of the organization and its mission.
Maintain ethical standards, accountability, manage risk, perform due diligence and implement operational best practices.
Fundraising & Communications:
Ensure BWINTAF’s financial stability via foundation grants, individual donations, and other appropriate sources of revenue and funding.
Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and expansion.
Liaise with federal, state, and local political and business leaders, U.S. Congress, the Administration, foreign governments, and international bodies to champion the advancement of BWINTAF’s mission and to identify government partnerships and funding opportunities.
Develop and implement communications, social media, and outreach strategies to promote the organization and its fundraising goals.
Serve as one of the primary spokespersons for BWINTAF in the media and in public forums.
Edit the monthly BWINTAF Network Monthly Updates and Quarterly Newsletters.
Financial & Administrative:
Lead and ensure completion of grant reporting, invoicing, contracts, and other operational items to ensure the successful continuation of business operations.
Collaborate with appropriate staff, committee(s), and Board to:
Develop diverse revenue streams and long-term plans to best support the mission and goals of the organization.
Oversee fundraising efforts including sponsorships, donor cultivation, solicitation, grants, and special events, etc.
Participate in sponsorship and donor cultivation and solicitation.
Assist the BWINTAF Board of Directors with managing the financial and legal aspects of the organization including but not limited to the annual website domain fee, the cost of the organization email accounts, maintaining the principal office address, obtaining and keeping the registered agent, and meeting any legal obligations e.g. completing the annual filing processes including the 990, and meeting state filing requirements.
Assist the Board of Directors in its annual Board of Directors and Senior Advisory Council searches and when needed, assist in their search for an Executive Director.
Building BWINTAF Network:
Identify and engage new stakeholders in BWINTAF’s mission, and direct our external presence and relationships to garner new sponsors.
Utilize BWINTAF social media and listserv to engage existing networks.
The ED will be thoroughly committed to BWINTAF’s mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
A Bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred.
Academic and practical experience in the International Affairs field.
At least 2 years of professional non-profit management and leadership experience.
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget.
Marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approach to nonprofit planning.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
Position Salary: The position is currently offered on a volunteer basis with the potential to become a full-time paid position.
Average Work Hours: 15-25 hours/week. BWINTAF is a fully remote organization.
